COVID-19: Symptoms and Prevention

COVID stands for Coronavirus Disease; it is termed as novel coronavirus or COVID-19, since it first infected humans in 2019. This highly infectious disease is caused by a virus named SARS-CoV-2. The virus primarily spreads through physical contact and respiratory droplets. People with COVID-19 may have a wide range of symptoms. These may appear in two to fourteen days after the exposure to the virus. The common signs include- fever, dry cough. tiredness, loss of taste or smell, muscle aches, headache, sore throat. vomiting, diarrhoea, etc. Some people may Cxperience worsened symptoms, such as acute shortness of breath and pneumonia. Older people and those with underlying medical problems such as heart disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious, illIness. Though thete are few vaccines available now, yet preventive measures are the best ways to stay safe from COVID-19. We must wear face mask while going out or face a crowd, wash or sanitize our hands frequently, avoid touching face, nose and eyes, cover our face and nose with a tissue or by elbow when sneezing or coughing and maintain at least a distance of 3 feet while confronting people outside. Besides, we can make our immune system stronger by following the health rules. taking nutritious food, drink a lot of liquid and doing light exercise. Anyone with the possible symptoms must be home quarantined (isolated) in order to avoid close contact with others.
